Evergy transmission line engineers are valued technical experts within the company. They collaborate thoroughly with project managers, professionals in other departments (substation, construction, real estate, permitting, planning, etc.), along with external stakeholders and customers to ensure safe and efficient project completion. Regular job functions include line routing, structure configuration selection and loading design, foundation design, budget estimates, structure spotting, and creation of construction drawings with bills of material. Additionally, engineers conduct reviews for internal and external projects that impact existing or planned transmission facilities.

    • Opportunity for drivable site visits before, during, and after construction of projects.

    • The capacity to create or contribute to technical tools, policies, and procedures related to your interests.

    • Engaging with high-profile customers to bring new green generation to the grid and to provide new data farms, manufacturing, and other new technology to our communities.

    • Ensuring that the Bulk Electric System can withstand extreme weather events and is capable of meeting the electric demand of our customers and the Southwest Power Pool.

    • Autonomy to be a trusted decision maker on your projects while receiving support from an experienced, helpful team.

    • Meeting customers face to face at project “open house” events where Evergy professionals provide information to and answer questions from those in the community.

*Education and Experience Requirements:*Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required. Civil Engineering degree preferred.

Engieneer II - 2 or more years of engineering experience.

Principal Engineer - Typically possesses 20 or more years of engineering experience. Advanced technical degree preferred. Professional Engineering license required. Proven ability to mentor and the knowledge and ability to handle significant or complex problems.

    *Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:*

    The ideal candidate must:

    * be driven to overcome dynamic challenges as part of a cooperative project team.

    * possess an inquisitive, detail oriented, critical thinking mindset, with initiative to understand the “why’s” behind design standards and the perspectives of all stakeholders.

    * have demonstrated effective organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with others.

    * show initiative, be a self-starter, and be team oriented.

    * be able to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, and use good judgment in making adaptations and modifications.

    This role requires:

    * a mechanical aptitude and proficient knowledge of basic engineering principles and advanced mathematics.

    * the ability to plan, design, and supervise a project to completion, within time and budgetary constraints.

    The following skills are preferred:
