The Climate Resiliency Educator develops, delivers, and leads educational programs that promote awareness, understanding, and action around climate change resilience. This role involves working with various stakeholders—including students, teachers, community groups, volunteers, and local government—to empower communities to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change. The position will also oversee volunteers that extend CCE’s climate-related outreach activities in communities.
The Educator solicits grants, manages funder requirements, represents CCE Albany County as a subject matter expert, and works independently and with limited supervision influencing programs for the Association and its constituents.
We firmly believe in work-life balance and provide generous paid time off (vacation, personal, sick, and holiday pay). Compensation is paid at the rate of $62,500 annually and includes 21 Vacation days, 14 Holidays, 3 Personal days and 12 Sick days annually. Mileage for work related travel is reimbursed. Required Qualifications
+ Master’s degree.
+ Experience relevant to the role of position.
+ Ability to meet the frequent travel requirements associated with this position. A valid NYS driver's license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
+ Ability to manage, assess, develop, deliver, and evaluate programs.
+ Ability to manage budgets and secure funding and grants.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
+ Proficiency with or ability to learn Microsoft Office suite and program-based software.

Preferred Qualifications
+ Degree, coursework, and experience in climate resiliency, environmental sciences, natural resources, or other related fields.
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Program Responsibilities:
Program Assessment and Development – 30%
+ Apply subject matter knowledge to identify gaps and trends in the community, assess and develop programs, and make recommendations for improvements.
+ Identify and develop volunteer opportunities to extend the educational mission.
+ Maintain direct linkage with funders and Cornell University for guidance.
+ Ensure programs are within scope of the Plan of Work.
Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research – 40%
+ Support climate initiatives and outreach education with county, cities, municipalities, public, schools, and partner organizations.
+ Deliver programs on topics that include but are not limited to adaptation and mitigation, climate justice, urban forestry, watershed management, etc.
+ Create lesson plans and supporting materials for educational programs.
+ Provide public outreach and educational efforts through various methods, including training, tabling events, social media, etc.
+ Represent CCE Albany and serve as a subject matter expert; field questions, provide responses, etc.
+ Serve on advisory boards, committees, and program work teams.
+ Foster acceptance of the program and methods to address community and individual needs.
+ Engage in multiple partner organization efforts to deliver programs.
+ Evaluate programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management – 20%
+ Recruit and manage volunteers.
+ Plan and manage assigned programs, budgets, and communication strategies.
+ Develop, expand, and enhance relationships for the program.
+ Ensure grant and funder requirements are met.
+ Research and apply for grants and contracts for sustained funding.
+ Monitor program to ensure that educational content is research knowledge based.
+ Assist in solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise in the program.
Coordination and Operation – 5%
+ Coordinate and schedule assigned programs.
+ Recruit program participants.
+ Perform communications and marketing responsibilities – draft standard communications, impact statements, social media posts, take photos, etc.
+ Maintain program records and data.
+ Compile program materials and inventory.
+ Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
Professional Improvement – 5%
+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
+ Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
