    Job Description

    BAE Systems is seeking Program Technical Lead Configuration and Data Management

    to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. This position is responsible for performing technical planning and leading technical performance in support of advanced programs under the direction, and in-collaboration with, Program Management leadership. You will provide engineering support leadership in performing technical analysis, trade studies, research, development, resolve issues, and make recommendations regarding enhanced capabilities.

     

    The primary objective for this role is to apply sound engineering principles and disciplined guidance to ensure successful execution and sustainment of the SSP alterations program and technical information program while communicating effectively with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives concerning operational decisions, technical risk identification and mitigation, definition and achievement of requirements, and overall end-to-end systems engineering process definition and oversight that results in successful definition and realization of large-scale systems.

    The ideal candidate for should be able to:

    + Demonstrate a history of not just capturing of user requirements, but insightful identification of unspoken requirements, as well as opportunities to leverage existing/best practice to enhance technical solutions.

    + Engage with the various cross-program efforts to improve/overhaul the Configuration Management (CM) and Technical Data Management (DM) programs and appropriately scale efforts to improve SSP CM support and support the evolution of technical program data.

     

    The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering concepts and an understanding of Navy operations in support of a complex system.

    Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program s inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and is the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation s nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

     

    Minimum education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Bachelor s degree in system engineering or related field preferred, and at least 8 years proven experience successfully leading engineering activities across large-scale weapon systems; or a Master of Science in Data Engineering or related field, and minimum of 5 years of related experience.

     

    + Thorough understanding and implementation of the end-to-end System Engineering lifecycle.

    + Experience and understanding of data management concepts.

    + Experience providing briefing and/or reports to leadership highlighting the results and recommended actions

    + Must possess strong organizational and time management skills

    + Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

    + Exceptional verbal and written skills with technical emphasis

    + Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teams

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Master degree in Data or Systems Engineering or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification

    + Configuration Management (CM) certification or Data Management (DM) Certification

    + Experience with various engineering tools / languages including SysML, and/or MATLAB Simulink.

    + Experience in conducting engineering change proposal analysis

    + Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to interface with government representatives and internal departments.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
