The Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology Commerce (DEE&T), Growth and Identity Client Engineering organization delivers app experiences across Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and Star+ built on a common platform and shared technology. The Web team is a fast-paced and fast-growing team that shares knowledge and code for initiatives throughout Disney.
We are seeking individuals with a passion for learning and developing the future of streaming services on the web. As a member on DEE&T Web Commerce and Identity Core team you’ll build and support the sign-up, purchase, and subscription management experiences of our Web platform!
As a Software Engineer you serve as a high-level technical resource and “go-to” person, solving sophisticated technical challenges and finding opportunities to improve systems, products, and services!
Responsibilities
+ Collaborates closely with engineering teams to translate requirements into technical specifications, projects, or fixes that scale and perform.
+ Write and maintain code quality through test driven development.
+ Efficiently supports software throughout the lifecycle. Performs technical maintenance and fixing for components while maintaining clear documentation.
+ Applies experiences and exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques to identify, resolve, and develop solutions to a variety of complex tasks involving architectural application changes.
+ Contribute to code reviews, documentation, knowledge-sharing, and technical investigations.
+ Collaborate with Senior and Lead Engineers to building new features to enhance developer experience, upstream integrations and platform tooling
Basic Qualifications:
+ 3+ years' experience building highly scalable and performant modern JavaScript/Typescript web applications.
+ Writes well-documented, clear, and robust code.
+ Proven track record to define and implement api specifications while collaborating with service teams
+ Quickly learn, understand, and adapt to new technologies, identifying root causes and driving solutions to highly sophisticated problems.
+ Exhibits emotional intelligence, supervising oneself under high pressure situations and meets urgent timelines.
+ Optimally collaborates and communicates with team members and multi-functional partners, engaging technical topics with clarity.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience shipping a production React/Node.js/Next application
+ Experience working with Agile methodologies
+ Working knowledge of web accessibility fundamentals
Education Requirements:
+ A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $120,300 to $161,300. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
