    Position Overview:

    SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking an Infrastructure Project Manager to deliver world-class design and construction of facilities and infrastructure projects in support of world-changing scientific research. In this role, the project manager will generally be responsible for leading or supporting the planning, developing, procurement, design, construction, and close-out/transition to operations of infrastructure projects up to $10M.

     

    This position will liaise with a broad range of client groups and stakeholders, including SLAC scientists and physicists, management and operations, finance and contracting, facilities engineers and technicians, and others. When supporting larger projects, this position may support a senior project manager or project director in managing engineering and design requirements, design and construction submittals, correspondence with project stakeholders and senior management, technical evaluations of bid proposals, development and review of construction cost estimates and project schedules, and similar tasks.

     

    This position is an employee of Stanford University, providing support to the Department of Energy (DOE) contract at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. This position requires a personal and professional commitment to delivering safe, quality design and construction performance to support the science mission. This position reports to the Project Management Group within the Design and Construction Services Department of the Project Portfolio Management Office Division.

    Your specific responsibilities include:

    + Project management of small minor construction projects, generally < $10M.

    + Project Manager responsible to deliver electrical, mechanical, and civil infrastructure design and construction work scopes of the assigned project(s).

    + Development and management of critical paths and schedules. Detailed knowledge of project schedules, including awareness on interdependencies with other project¿s schedules and laboratory¿s operational downtimes.

    + Cost control the assigned major project control account and/or cost account of the assigned projects.

    + Perform the full range of project management cycle on assigned project control accounts, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling, and closing of all responsible WBS activities. Independently lead and direct work scopes and deliverables that involve functional integrations with multiple engineering systems and disciplines.

    + Develop and maintain project documentation including project execution plan, communication plan and acquisition strategy plan. Responsible for development of resource plan for assigned project control accounts, including level of effort for management, supporting labor, materials, and time required to complete the assigned project control accounts including planning, design, and construction of infrastructure.

    + Facilitate discussions and negotiations between SLAC stakeholders to drive consensus on project design and operation requirements along with the Design Manager.

    + Through the subcontract technical representative, direct the work of subcontractors to successfully complete the assigned project control accounts. Ensure that project requirements are captured, and the design meets the program requirements as established by the project stakeholders and approved project documentation.

    + Utilize approved project management system, processes and tools during design and construction to ensure alignment with PPMO and DOE¿s reporting requirements for Project Status and Quality Assurance.

    + Organize and hold design readiness and technical reviews along with the Design Manager.

    + Identify and manage project risks and actively monitor mitigation measures to control cost, schedule, and scope.

    + Utilize comprehensive change management strategies.

    + Ensure that construction conforms to SLAC policies and engineering specifications under dynamic working conditions.

    To be successful in this position you will bring:

    + Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field and three years of related experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity with limited performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience.

    + Polished written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.

    + Ability to productively engage and influence cross-functional teams.

    + Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

    + Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.

    + Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.

    + Experience in managing technical facilities construction projects.

    Certifications and Licenses:

    + Project Management (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

    The expected pay range for this position is $118,401 - $153,235 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
