Compensation:
The wage range listed represents the potential compensation opportunities for this position. Starting salary will be thoughtfully determined by the hiring manager based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, education, relevant skills, and qualifications brought to the role. The initial offer could be any amount within the posted range, reflecting Epsilon's commitment to fair and competitive compensation.
Where you’ll work:
This is a hybrid onsite/remote opportunity where you will report to the customer location in Falls Church, VA and have the flexibility to work from home based on business needs.
An average day:
As API Engineer II, you will support the development and integration of data governance capabilities across classified and unclassified environments. This role is central to advancing the Department of Defense’s (DoD) data strategy through the creation and enhancement of scalable APIs, metadata interfaces, and data pipelines. In this position you will:
+ Design, develop, and maintain APIs for the DoD Federated Data Catalog, enabling metadata exposure for datasets and AI models.
+ Integrate external data catalogs and establish interoperability standards with public sector platforms (e.g., data.gov ).
+ Enhance discoverability and monitoring of AI solutions by supporting model registration, feature store development, and enterprise-wide performance tracking.
+ Implement automated metadata card strategies aligned with data mesh principles and DoD/CDAO policies.
+ Support self-service data quality integrations, enabling users to define and enforce data quality rules.
+ Collaborate with Agile teams to execute sprint plans focused on data pipeline and governance priorities.
+ Contribute to the development of policy-as-code access control mechanisms for secure data sharing on the Advana platform.
Basic Qualifications:
+ As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
+ 3-5 years of experience in software engineering and enterprise application development
+ Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go, with demonstrated ability to develop scalable software solutions and customize applications for enterprise environments
+ Experience with database design and development, including both relational and NoSQL databases, with knowledge of data pipeline architectures and ETL processes
+ Understanding of data mesh principles and enterprise data architecture patterns
+ Experience in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) preferred; security clearance eligibility and experience with DoD or government systems advantageous
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with API development in secure, federated environments.
+ Familiarity with data cataloging, metadata standards, and AI/ML model governance.
+ Proficiency in Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
+ Understanding of attribute-based access control and policy-as-code frameworks.
Other:
+ Must have an active DOD Secret clearance. ( _This is a federal contract position and requires candidates to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of Security Clearance or Public Trust. Adjudication of the required Security Clearance or Public Trust is determined solely by the government. If the government determines that the candidate cannot obtain and/or maintain the appropriate level of Security Clearance or Public Trust, Epsilon will be unable to place the candidate in this position.)_
