    About the team:

    The **Enterprise Safety and Security team** under **Global Governance** at Walmart plays a critical role in safeguarding the world’s largest retail ecosystem. Operating at the intersection of innovation and security, our team is responsible for designing and delivering platforms that enforce compliance, ensure secure access, building highly impactful and scalable solutions. We partner closely with business, product, and technology teams to embed security into every layer of Walmart’s digital operations—proactively addressing vulnerabilities, aligning with evolving regulations, and enabling the business to scale confidently and securely. The team is also actively exploring and applying cutting-edge Generative AI and agentic technologies to drive automation, intelligent risk mitigation, and adaptive security frameworks across the enterprise.

    What you'll do:

    As a Staff Engineer, you will lead small teams of engineers—including offshore associates—in delivering complex engineering projects. You will provide technical direction, architectural guidance, and solution reviews; identify and implement scalable and maintainable system designs; and conduct comprehensive design and code reviews. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot production issues through root cause analysis, and support innovation by defining technical strategies and best practices. You will also partner with product management, UX, and business stakeholders to drive discovery, solution validation, and delivery of high-impact projects across the organization.

     

    + Provide technical leadership and mentorship to teams of engineers across geographies.

    + Review and approve technical solutions, code changes, and architectural patterns.

    + Troubleshoot critical production and business issues; lead root cause analysis and resolution efforts.

    + Drive high-level design in partnership with Product, UX, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.

    + Define and implement innovation strategies, engineering best practices, and scalable processes.

    + Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions for complex projects.

    + Write and review code, conduct unit testing, and lead defect triage and resolution.

    + Communicate project status, risks, and technical decisions to stakeholders and leadership.

    + Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and effective hand-offs between teams.

    + Guide discovery, scoping, and planning for long-term initiatives; influence decision-making at all levels.

    What you'll bring:

    + Bachelor's degree or master’s Degree with 10+ years of experience in Computer Science or related field.

    + Deep knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture and experience implementing RESTFUL Web Services.

    + Strong in Java programming and JVM internals (concurrency, multi-threading).

    + Solid design and coding skills in Java and/or Spring framework.

    + Extensive hands-on experience building services using these technologies (Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JAX).

    + Strong computer science knowledge in algorithms, data structures, database concepts and SQL technologies.

    + Extensive hands-on experience with storage technologies such as Cosmos DB, Elastic Search, Hive, Cassandra, Hadoop and Kafka are good to have.

    + Extensive hands-on experience in Cloud Development experience

    + Good to have experience in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, AJAX, GraphQL, React Native, React, Redux, Webpack and Node.

    + Experience in building scalable/highly available distributed systems in production.

    + Understanding of stream processing with knowledge on Kafka.

    + Knowledge of Software Engineering best practices with experience on implementing CI/CD, Log aggregation/Monitoring/alerting for production system.

    + Very good expertise in production support related activities (issue identification, resolution)

    + Experience in AI tools to improve the developer Productivity in creating applications.

    + Experience in AI, Gen AI, Agentic AI, LLM’s, creating chatbots etc,.
