    Job Description:

    Green Rabbit, recently acquired by Performance Food Group and working under their Vistar Retail Segment, is a cold storage facility looking for a Maintenance and Mechanical Technician.

     

    This position is seasonal to direct hire after 90-days of satisfactory employment.

    Position Purpose:

    Under general supervision, performs troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, scrubbers). Maintains refrigeration systems, coolers, air compressors, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as general maintenance, repairs, and installations on various equipment. Maintains the facilities, buildings, and grounds according to an established preventive maintenance schedule and on an as-needed basis. Observes all safety and regulatory standards and ensures high-quality work is completed efficiently and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization and performs any duties assigned to best serve the company.

    General Responsibilities:

    Maintenance and Repair

    + Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain material handling equipment to minimize downtime.

    + Perform preventive maintenance on equipment according to standards, guidelines, and timeframes.

    + Maintain refrigeration systems, coolers, air compressors, HVAC systems, and other facility equipment.

    + Perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds, including structural, plumbing, and electrical work.

    + Maintain a clean and orderly maintenance shop.

    Safety and Security

    + Implement and follow safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

    + Maintain and monitor security systems to protect personnel and property.

    Space Management

    + Plan, coordinate, and manage space allocation and utilization, including maintaining accurate floor plans, placement of tape, and signage.

    Record Keeping

    + Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, including equipment, temperature, and facility logs.

    + Maintain a master maintenance and repair schedule for warehouse and office facilities.

    Procurement and Inventory

    + Order necessary parts and supplies to maintain equipment.

    + Ensure batteries and battery-charging equipment are properly maintained and functional.

    Additional Duties

    + Perform all needed general maintenance and repairs for grounds, warehouse, shop, and office facilities.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned to support the team and company.

    Required Qualifications:

    Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

     

    Required Experience: 4 - 6 years in HVAC maintenance, material handling equipment maintenance and general maintenance and repairs for large warehouse, fleet shop and office facilities.

     

    Technical Knowledge and Skills Preferred: Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and material handling equipment systems.

     

    Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve facility and equipment issues quickly and effectively.

     

    Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to work with staff, vendors, and contractors.

     

    Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with attention to detail.

     

    Time Management: Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and work independently or as part of a team.

     

    Proficiency with hand and power tools.

     

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

     

    Strong troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

     

    Ability to climb ladders and work in confined or awkward spaces.

     

    Solid understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance.

     

    Financially prudent in managing maintenance expenses.
