    MANUFACTURING TEAM MEMBER (CNC ROUTER/LASER)

    SUMMARY: THIS ROLE PREDOMINATELY INVOLVES OPERATION OF 5-AXIS CNC ROUTER & LASER MACHINES

    A Manufacturing Team Member supports production by working on a variety of pieces of equipment including; but, not limited to; hot forming press, Forklift, Bandsaw, Plasma Cutter, Clean Line and 5-axis machines. This position performs various processes to Superplastically formed (SPF) metal component to include, but are not limited to; surface finishing, trimming, assembly, correction, touch-up polish, touch-up paint and inspection. Utilizing a variety of inspection equipment including, but not limited to; height gages, ball-micrometer, calipers, go/no go gauges, ultrasound, countersink gages, calipers, micrometer and tong caliper verifying work meets customer requirements.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: may include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

     

    + Operate CNC machines (5 Axis machines)

    + Monitor and assure parts meet manufacturing requirements.

    + Read and interpret blueprints.

    + Perform inspection of parts using measurement tools (calipers, height gauge, etc)

    + Deburr parts as needed.

    + Perform minor maintenance to machine when needed.

    + Operate a forklift to move raw material, tools etc. to the desired location.

    + Accurately and in a timely manner complete of all Production and Quality Documents supporting AS9100 Requirements.

    + Read and follow detailed written manufacturing instructions and use a variety of tools to produce components that meet the specifications as stated on the shop traveler and/or blueprint.

    + Execute daily work duties to meet customer demands while upholding quality and safety standards.

    + Identify and escalate issues of material or machine operation that affects the quality of a part.

    + Follow all Safe Operating Practices and Company Safety Procedures, ensuring a clean and safe work area at all times.

    + Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts, as required.

    + Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.

    + Importantly, as Superform’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, as scheduled, in strict adherence to the Time and Attendance Rules Policy.

    MANAGEMENT CONTROL :

    + Ensure all jobs before processing have appropriate work instructions, gauges, tools etc. to minimize disruption and reduce quality risks.

    + Involve and communicate with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Logistics to improve problem solving and develop work instructions and practices.

    IMPROVED FUNCTIONING OF SHOP FLOOR:

    + Implement and maintain visual management (photo skills matrix, KPI’s, etc.)

    + Improved housekeeping through 6S culture

    + Audits to monitor quality, housekeeping and H & S

    + Encourage team working

    + Pro-active problem solving

    + Waste reduction; operator waiting, inventory, transportation, motion.

    + Ensure Operator adherence to machine TPM programs

    + Health & safety controls & procedures

    + Environmental standards in line with accreditations

    QUALITY:

    + Quality systems & procedures in line with accreditations; Quality Standards ISO 9000:2000, TS16949, AS9100 and IS0 14001 Environmental Standards.

    OBJECTIVES:

    Objectives are issued separately from the Job Description. As a collaborative effort between Superform and the employee, objectives are reviewed, agreed and amended annually in alignment with strategic objectives.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    + This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services.  These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons.  Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    + One (1) or more years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment, preferred.

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required. This is an entry level position.

    + Experience on the following machines is preferred but not required, 5-Axis CNC Machining, Haas, Fagor Controls, Forklift, and Plasma Cutter.

    + Previous work experience and education directly linked to the position may be considered.

    + Ability to read Blue Prints preferred. Knowledge of inspection tools also preferred.

    + Must be familiar with safety requirements in the manufacturing area.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    + The employee must be able to communicate in English with the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, handbooks, and manuals.

    + Clerical skills must be in English and must be at a level that will allow for correct and legible recording and reporting.

    + Must have the ability to effectively present information in English and respond in English to questions from managers and company personnel.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    + Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    + Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    + The employee must be capable of lifting and handling racks of material up to a maximum of 50 lbs. an occasional basis.
