Description
Come help us build tools to incorporate Gen AI across our data analytics and business intelligence teams. The Brand Excellence team is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead our business intelligence projects and strategy. This is a leadership role in the BI community of our organization, which includes analyzing, and delivering actionable insights to drive customer engagement and satisfaction, while supporting the growth of our business. A successful candidate will be able to partner effectively with both business and technical teams, across a variety of global stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. They will be an expert in SQL/ETL and data manipulation, with a proven track record of connecting data insights to business impact. They will be able to present analytical results and insights to senior leadership, using multiple methods, including written summaries and visualization/reporting tools. The candidate will also have a strong innovative/disruptive mindset and will be comfortable asking, ‘How can we do this differently?’ The candidate should also have some familiarity with Machine Learning models, and be capable to take ownership of a couple of ML models our team owns, and identify ways to improve upon them.
Key job responsibilities
• Interface with internal business customers to gather data and metrics requirements.
• Lead as a thought leader on how we can better leverage AI technologies to radically simplify our team’s program operations, and how the data analytics community in our org can better leverage AI technologies.
• Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics and reporting to deliver key business insights.
• Lead new and ambiguous business projects from start to finish with the ability to manage, analyze and communicate results to senior leadership.
• Help shape current data team processes such as sprint planning, task estimation and reporting.
• Own and perform individual deep dive analyses on our customers, including communicating results and implications to business leaders
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation, always insisting on the highest standards.
• Mentor junior Business Intelligence Engineers.
About the team
The Brand Excellence team strives to offer Amazon customers the best possible shopping experience with the top brands offered for sale in the Amazon Store. The team manages an Amazon policy that holds high standards for customer experience across Amazon’s core inputs of pricing, selection, and delivery speed. The team’s programmatic work spans the consumer business, working with counterparts in the Retail and the 3P businesses. The team owns and interprets the policy, leads the direction to best preserve the customer shopping experience on strategic brands, and owns both programs and tech tools/systems to achieve our objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
