    DESCRIPTION:

    Duties: Design, develop and implement software solutions. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer and Information Technology, or in a related field of study plus one (1) year of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software/Application Developer, Consultant (IT), or in a related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer and Information Technology, or in a related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software/Application Developer, Consultant (IT), or in a related occupation.

     

    Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: Shell scripting for automation and task management; Linux and Unix system administration, including Shell scripting, memory management, file systems, user management, networking, file permissions, and process monitoring; PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration; Working in Agile environments, including methodologies; Software Development Life Cycle; Data modeling, data warehousing, and database design; ETL processes and tools; Designing and developing microservices-based architectures; RESTful APIs, service discovery, and inter-service communication; Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming and event- driven architectures; Kafka topics, procedures, consumers, and stream processing; Building and orchestrating containerized applications using Docker; Jenkins for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD); Creating and managing Jenkins pipelines and jobs; Python programming for back-end development, scripting, and automation; Python libraries and frameworks including Flask and Pandas; SQL statements and stored procedures for querying and managing relational databases as well as database design, normalization and performance tuning; Designing and developing RESTful APIs; Working with JSON for data interchange and parsing, generating and manipulating data; Managing Kubernetes clusters; AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch; Oracle databases administration and performance tuning, including SQL and PL/SQL; Splunk for log management and analysis, creating dashboards alerts and reports; Using GIT for version control with branching, merging and pull requests; and Unit testing frameworks such as Pytest for writing and maintaining unit tests to endure code quality.
