Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.

We are currently seeking a full-time Benefits Assistant to undertake a variety of HR administrative duties. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, in our Commack, NY location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides information to employees on current policies and procedures. Answer various benefit questions, payroll questions, and assist with employee concerns. Supplies appropriate forms upon request.
Reconcile invoices from benefit carriers ensuring that new hires are added and terminations are removed. Notify COBRA vendor of all terminations in a timely manner. Voucher monthly invoices for appropriate approvals and ensure timely payments.
Track benefit eligibility for per-diem/on-call staff due to Health Care Reform. Prepare monthly analysis and review, update spreadsheet, ensure eligibility and coding in payroll is accurate.
Ensure timely notification of benefits eligibility to staff. Process enrollment forms and notify carriers and payroll for appropriate deductions. Act as liaison between benefit carriers and employees.
Generate employee waiver reports, review for accuracy and seek approval for payments.
Review tuition and gym reimbursement applications. Voucher approved applications and monitor payments to staff.
Review and compile new hire and replacement uniform orders. Generate a bi-weekly order for review and approval. Upon receipt of ordered uniforms reconcile order against original order form. Distribute uniforms to staff within 24-48 hours of receipt.
Maintain and update employment and status-change data within various HRIS systems. Compile and maintain accurate employee documentation and records for compliance.
Assist in the execution of employee engagement events.
Monitor and track eligibility for Paid Family Leave Waiver.
P repare required on-boarding documents, coordinate with Employee Health and meet with new employees. Generate ID badges and track those that are lost/damaged.
Open department mail, date stamp and distribute accordingly. This includes reading and responding to general requests as well as employment verifications when appropriate.
Provide excellent customer service to all who reach out to Human Resources seeking assistance. Interact clearly with employees at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality handling all HR matters.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
2-3 years of related experience working in HR or administrative support. Benefits knowledge is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize effectively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with HR software preferred; familiarity with Ulti Pro / UKG a plus.
