The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at the University of Utah is seeking a Research Assistant Professor faculty member specializing in MRI and Multi-spectral opto-acoustic tomography ( MSOT ) research. The candidate must have experience in focused ultrasound research, including leadership in MRI -compatible immunotherapy, thermal ablation studies, and quantitative imaging biomarkers. The candidate should have experience with securing multiple grants, collaborating across disciplines, and mentoring trainees in imaging science and computational methods.
This new faculty will be expected to develop his/her research program, to integrate and broaden the current research programs in the Department, and to establish both internal and external collaborations for MRI basic and application research, and to fulfill the obligations of a research faculty member in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at the University of Utah.
**Qualifications** : The candidate should hold a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, and have demonstrated excellence in medical imaging research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed funding and publications. Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate his/her excellence in original research, project management, and collaboration and communication skills. Faculty duties include conducting original scholarly research, seeking funding support, mentoring students or postdocs, teaching, and service to the Department.
Facilities and Institution:
The Department offers extensive imaging resources, including multiple preclinical, clinical, and research MRI scanners, PET -CT scanners, microPET scanner, and microPETMRI scanner, and radiochemistry facility, jointly operated with the School of Medicine and Huntsman Cancer Institute. The Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research ( UCAIR ) in the Department offers international expertise in MRI research, PET physics research, and radiobiology research. Interdisciplinary collaborations are ongoing with the College of Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, Psychology, and other basic and clinical sciences departments in the University of Utah and neighboring institutions. UCAIR provides infrastructure and oversight for medical imaging research at the University of Utah. It has office and laboratory space in the Imaging and Neuroscience Center ( INC ) at 729 Arapeen Drive in Research Park and currently has eighteen faculty members, six postdoctoral research associates, and a number of graduate students from bioengineering, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, and biomedical informatics.
Location:
The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains at the western edge of the Rocky Mountains.
