Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Operations, the Med/Surg Nurse Manager shares 24-hour accountability and additional responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of the Medical Surgical department.

+ Functions will be performed in accordance with the nurse practitioner in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.

+ Assures quality of care through compliance with departmental policies, hospital and external regulatory agency guidelines.

+ Functions effectively as an interdisciplinary team member.

+ Accepts responsibility for assurance that quality patient care is provided consistently according to hospital and departmental standards and policies/procedures.

+ Accepts accountability and responsibility for achievement of operational and capital budget goals.

+ Performs hourly rounding and responds promptly to call lights and patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.

+ Follows patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.

What qualifications you will need:

Education/Experience:

+ Graduate of an accredited professional School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN) required; Advanced degree preferred.

+ 3 – 5 years’ experience in a surgical unit required.

+ Clinical practice within 2-5 years in area of expertise required.

Licensure/Certifications:

+ Current RN licensure by the State of Texas required or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

+ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support required.
