    Munson Healthcare is seeking a Medical Director for Occupational Medicine to lead clinical operations, provide direct patient care, and develop occupational health programs. As part of Munson’s Occupational Health and Medicine team, the Medical Director will oversee clinical operations, lead in the supervision of APPs, provide occupational medicine services including work-related injury care, surveillance exams, various physicals, drug/alcohol testing oversight (MRO), contribute to strategic development, enhance quality initiatives, and employer consulting. In addition, you will have an opportunity to lead and expand the Travel Health Clinic.

    + Clinical (75%), Administrative (25%)

    + Provide clinical occupational health services, evaluate and treat occupational injuries and illnesses, and perform specialty examinations to patients, employers, and payors.

    + Specialty examinations include: employment physicals, DOT physical exams, respiratory physical exams, merchant mariner exams, return to work exams, and fit for duty exams.

    + Treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses include: evaluating and treatment of acute sprains and strains, diagnosis and management of cumulative trauma disorders, laceration treatment and care, general injury care, minor wound care, and post-exposure care.

    + Lead/support development of quality initiatives and other programs to continually improve cost effectiveness and quality of services and patient and client satisfaction

    + Serve as the Medical Review Officer (“MRO”) for the program

    + Provides routine occupational injury/illness care, follow-up, and referral. Provide case management support for complex/long-term claims.

    + Provide leadership, direction and coordination of all clinical activities involving professional medical judgment. Cooperate with Management to ensure comprehensive delivery of services and quality patient care while accomplishing center objectives. Evaluate medical procedures and everyday situations and suggest ways to improve delivery of service and profitability.

    + Assist the personnel at the Clinic in establishing, implementing and administering policies and procedures to ensure the consistency, quality, appropriateness and medical necessity of all professional services provided at the Clinic.

    + Coordinate the development of appropriate policies and procedures necessary to assure the maintenance of licensing, certification and accreditations, and to meet the requirements of various reviewing organizations.

    Standard Qualifications

    + Board Certified in Occupational Medicine

    + MI license or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Michigan

    + DEA & BLS

    + Registration with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, preferred. (Obtain within 3 months of employment)

    + Medical Review Officer certification required (or must be obtained within 6 months).

    + Opportunity to become and Aviation Medical Examiner (FAA examiner), now offered by the current Medical Director

    + Knowledge of Michigan’s Worker’s Compensation regulations desired, not required.
