    Position: PrincipalLocation: Oliver Middle SchoolStart Date: October 2025 Position Overview:The Middle School Principal serves as the educational leader of the middle school, responsible for developing and maintaining a positive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and social development for students in grades 6–8. The Principal provides strategic leadership to staff and ensures the implementation and alignment of district policies, district and building initiatives, and best educational practices.Responsibilities:Instructional Leadership and Student Achievement:

     

    + Promotes high expectations for student achievement and behavior.

    + Creates a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate.

    + Collaborates with teachers and department chairs to ensure alignment with educational standards.

    + Monitors and supports curriculum alignment with state standards.

    + Fosters data-driven instructional practices to improve student performance.

    + Supports the development and implementation of innovative teaching methods.

    + Implements and monitors programs to address student well-being, including mental health and social-emotional learning.

    Student Discipline and Behavior Management:

    + Enforces school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.

    + Addresses disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, promoting a positive school culture.

    + Maintains accurate and up-to-date records in our student management system of student investigations and behavior trends.

    Staff Supervision and Development:

    + Provides guidance and mentorship to faculty and staff for professional growth.

    + Visits classrooms daily.

    + Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.

    + Collaborates with educators to develop strategies for student success.

    Parent and Community Engagement:

    + Fosters positive relationships with parents through effective communication.

    + Organizes and participate in parent-teacher conferences and events.

    + Engages with the community to build support and partnerships for the school.

    + Attends after school and evening events.

    + Assists in the day-to-day operations of the school as needed.

    School Leadership:

    + Collaborates with members of the Executive Cabinet in developing and implementing school policies and strategic plans.

    + Oversees the student master scheduling process.

    + Supports planning and attends building events (curriculum nights, back to school evenings, concerts, athletic events, etc.) that support community and parent/guardian connections.

    + Develops and monitors the buildings budget and ensures daily financial and business activities are compliant with the school’s fiscal policies.

    + Represents the school at meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.

    Professional Development:

    + Provides leadership for professional development and teacher growth

    + Participates in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with trends, methodologies, and advancements. This includes attending workshops, seminars and professional meetings such as Leadership Council, Instructional Council and the summer Administrative Institute.

    + Collaborates with fellow administrators and staff to share best practices and enhance the overall learning experience for students.

    + Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Qualifications:

    + A Master’s degree and appropriate New York State certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) School District Administrator (SDA), or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS).

    + Prior full-time paid experience in educational administration. A minimum of five years successful experience as a teacher.

    + Knowledge of current trends and best practices in education, including assessment systems and data-driven instruction.

    + Demonstrated effective building leadership skills.

    + Demonstrated proficiency with technology.

    + Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.

    + The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

    + The ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues.

    + Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
