    The Senior Support Specialist serves as the principal administrative and technical support within the Department of Human Services' Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing State Services Division (State Services). While supporting multiple programs—including the Mental Health Program, Regional Services, Central Operations, and MN ACT—the primary focus is on coordinating statewide administrative functions, managing public inquiries, and overseeing operational logistics. Responsibilities include:

     

    + Triaging service requests

    + Supporting division-wide initiatives

    + Maintaining resource availability

    + Assisting with stakeholder engagement efforts

    + Ensure consistent service delivery, particularly for Regional Services and Central Operations, which require structured administrative coordination for statewide impact

    + Provides secondary support to MN ACT and specialized program needs as required

    + Ability to work independently while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with State Services staff, state personnel, community stakeholders, clients, and other partners to ensure effective coordination and service delivery

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Communication Skills relating to effectively interacting with diverse groups

    + Customer Service Skills sufficient to provide information to wide range of clientele, including phone calls and e-mail contacts in helpful and courteous manner

    + Data Entry Performance sufficient to rapidly and accurately input data into various databases and Excel spreadsheets

    + Database, Documents, and Records Management skills sufficient to track and expedite documents and complete daily operations (e.g. AgileApps, EDMS/FileNet, MS Office: including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

    + Signing Skills sufficient to communicate fluently in American Sign Language

    + Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete a variety of reports, letters and data summaries

    + Word Processing skills sufficient to use Microsoft Word and Outlook to manage busy calendars and distribution lists, develop and modify a variety of correspondence, records and reports; perform mail merges, develop forms and charts

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Ability to prioritize a variety of assignments and know when to solicit assistance from other co-workers as needed

    + Problem-solving abilities and be able to work as a team

    + Analyze new policy information and communicate applicable changes in procedures to staff

    + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and/or cultures
