    Job Description

    The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations - Communications is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and executing an effective communications strategy for Alumni Relations and University Advancement to ensure that all 137,000+ living Maverick alumni are well informed and engaged with the Alumni Association. This role will measure and evaluate these strategies for effectiveness, and make changes based on those findings to increase effectiveness.

     

    This role will also be responsible for managing all outbound email communications to alumni, donors, and friends of the University by overseeing, editing and approving communication requests from internal constituents, including but not limited to college communicators, faculty and staff, student groups and University leadership. This will require collaboration with and lead work direction to constituents to ensure communications are on brand and coordinated with other outbound messaging strategies.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Competence Microsoft Office suite, desktop publishing software such as Canva.

    + Ability to design effective communications materials capable of conveying complex information to a broad audience.

    + Ability to maintain a website and knowledge of best practices for effectiveness and readability, as well as compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.

    + Ability to complete a one-year content calendar for social media while building in flexibility for additional engagement content.

    + Understanding of best practices for email communication, including creating easily readable content, analyzing intended audience, timing of transmission, etc.

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive data.

    + Three or more years professional experience in marketing, communications, website maintenance or related field.

    Preferred Qualification

    + Bachelor's degree in mass communication, communication studies, marketing, public relations or related field.

    + Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
