Job Summary and Qualifications

The ECMO Coordinator organizes and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. The ECMO Coordinator serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience. In addition, this colleague performs Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy to support patients with severely impaired heart/lung function.

+ Foster effective, collaborative working relationships with members of the inter-professional healthcare team in order to drive performance and manage change.

+ Collaborate with nursing, physician, and Supply Chain partners to obtain/maintain all needed resources (i.e. people, infrastructure, technology, supplies, etc.) in order to support the ECMO program.

+ Identify and effectively communicate key information and data (i.e. patient care communication, key policies/procedures/guidelines, education, patient outcomes, etc.) to stakeholders.

+ Collaborate with key stakeholders on all internal and external audits and in the development of action plans designed to address risks and vulnerabilities.

+ Align the ECMO program with evidence-based clinical and operational guidance to safeguard patient quality.

+ In partnership with key stakeholders, establish and maintain oversight of the vision for the ECMO program, aligning to actions/resources needed to meet that vision and measuring performance against both internal and external data.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ (RN) Registered Nurse, or Physicians Assistant (PA), or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner, or Perfusionist, or (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree
