Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Controller role for a large church and it's related entities in Reno.

Position Overview:

This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and diligent individual with strong accounting expertise, a commitment to confidentiality, and a heart aligned with the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coach a team of 3 finance professionals, fostering growth and accountability

• Ensure compliance with HR policies related to health insurance and 403(b) retirement plans

• Coach and teach team members to enhance their skills and performance

• Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial reports, annual reports, and giving statements

• Manage departmental accounting and consolidate financial statements across multiple reporting entities

• Assist the Executive Pastor (he is a CPA) in annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

• Participate in and drive the annual audit process to ensure compliance and transparency

• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard church assets and financial integrity

• Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, church leaders, and other stakeholders

• Be a timely, diligent, and hardworking contributor to the church’s mission and team culture

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum 5 years of relevant financial management experience

• Experience with departmental accounting and consolidating multiple reporting entities

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

• Strong integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Excellent communication skills and team player mentality

• Coachable, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Understanding and adherence to the basic tenets of the Christian faith
