Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accounting Manager to join our team in Columbus, Nebraska. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in manufacturing cost accounting and a passion for financial accuracy and analysis. You will play a key role in driving operational efficiency by managing budgets, analyzing variances, and ensuring compliance with financial controls.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with operations staff to oversee financial management, including annual budgets, quarterly projections, and monthly actuals.
• Monitor and analyze key financial areas such as material variances, labor costs, indirect expenses, inventory, and capital expenditures.
• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly and annual financial reports to facility, division, and corporate leadership.
• Take ownership of the facility's fixed and variable operating budget, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews and reconcile accounts to maintain financial integrity.
• Assist teams in identifying cost improvement opportunities, setting goals, and developing monthly forecasts.
• Manage internal and external audits conducted at the facility, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Review, monitor, and support control procedures to uphold financial standards.
• Organize and report the results of annual physical inventory processes. Requirements • Proven experience in cost accounting, with a focus on manufacturing environments.
• Expertise in standard cost accounting and cost variance analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage annual budgets, projections, and monthly financial reports.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and identify areas for improvement.
• Proficiency in inventory variance analysis and accrued expense management.
• Knowledge of auditing practices, including managing internal and external audits.
• Excellent communication skills to present financial findings to various stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus.
