Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our nonprofit organization. This role is critical in supporting our mission by ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping, compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and effective financial reporting. As a Staff Accountant, you will handle day-to-day accounting activities, assist with audits, and help maintain the financial integrity required to support our programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and reconcile accounts.

+ Assist with month-end and year-end closings, financial reporting, and preparation of Form 990.

+ Manage grant reporting and compliance, ensuring funds are used in alignment with donor and grantor requirements.

+ Oversee accounts payable/accounts receivable and track restricted and unrestricted funds.

+ Support budget creation, tracking, and monitoring to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

+ Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits.

+ Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, GAAP, and other applicable regulations.

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

+ 1-3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience is highly preferred.

+ Knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, including fund accounting and grant management.

+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks/QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or other nonprofit platforms) and Excel.

+ Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
