Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Rochester, New York. This Contract to permanent position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with extensive experience in full-cycle payroll processing and multi-state payroll management. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations while supporting the technical and reporting needs of the Human Resources/Payroll department.
Responsibilities:
• Process weekly payroll with accuracy, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
• Manage multi-state payroll for over 500 employees, including handling wage assignments, garnishments, and verifications.
• Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies by reviewing and correcting issues such as miscalculated hours or incorrect overtime.
• Maintain and audit vacation, sick, and holiday accruals to ensure accurate records.
• Generate and distribute reports from payroll and timekeeping systems as requested by supervisors or other departments.
• Support the Human Resources/Payroll department by maintaining the HRIS system, including regular updates and testing of new features.
• Develop and maintain detailed procedure manuals to assist backup personnel during absences.
• Provide training and user support for payroll and timekeeping systems to ensure efficient utilization.
• Collaborate with supervisors to resolve payroll-related issues by analyzing punch detail reports and missed punches.
• Identify process improvement opportunities within payroll operations and implement actionable solutions. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing, including multi-state payroll.
• Proficiency in handling payroll for organizations with over 500 employees.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems, particularly UKG Pro.
• Familiarity with payroll rules and regulations, including wage assignments and garnishments.
• Experience in maintaining and updating HRIS systems, with a focus on testing and troubleshooting.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to create and manage detailed reports using payroll and timekeeping systems.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to train and assist users effectively.
