Description Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant – Specializing in Accounts Payable is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor payments, managing customer credit approval process, maintaining financial records, and supporting product costing & monthly close process. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations while supporting key accounting functions and cross-functional teams.

Accounts Payable Responsibilities:

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices in accordance with company policies and internal controls.

• Verify and reconcile purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices.

• Prepare weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.

• Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

• Monitor and manage accounts payable aging to ensure timely payments.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Inventory Purchasing: Review inventory purchase orders to verify product pricing, freight, customs charges, and order terms for accuracy.

• Reconcile inventory at outside stock locations, validate stock adjustments, and compile reports on impaired and slow-moving inventory

• Freight Analysis: Reconcile domestic and international freight charges and customs duties; ensure accurate rates and proper cost allocation.

• Material Costing: Initiate and maintain new part costing, including inputting accurate cost components into BOM’s (e.g., raw materials, freight, duties)

• Customer Credit Applications: Manage the customer credit application process by collecting and verifying required documentation and approvals.

• Support month-end close by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

• Assist with audits by providing supporting documentation and responding to audit requests.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Collaborate with procurement, operations, and other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve workflow.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 1+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on accounts payable.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SAP ERP system.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with internal controls.

• Experience with 1099 reporting and Sales/Use Tax.

Additional items:

• Foreign currency exposure – CAD, EURO, USD conversions.

• Cross training on Accounts Receivable.
