**VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital** is expanding its **Interventional Radiology/ Internal Medicine** Patient Care Team and seeking a passionate **Certified Veterinary Technician** !

**Compensation:** $20 - 34 / hour

The starting range for technicians is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field.

**Schedule:** This is a full-time position, typically 4 x 10 hour shifts.

Snapshot of Our Internal Medicine and Interventional Radiology Team:

VCA Arboretum View's IM/IR Technicians better understand body systems and the disease process, learn advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with cutting-edge techniques.

With the mentorship of our Internist and Specialists, our Internal Medicine Technicians have advanced training and a better understanding of Endocrinology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology/Urology, Neurology, Respiratory Diseases and Oncology.

+ Collecting patient histories and performing physical exams.

+ IVC placement

+ Obtain laboratory samples via venipuncture, cystocentesis, and fecal collection

+ Gather and prepare tissue samples for culture and histopathologic diagnostic

+ Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging

+ Assisting in diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy, rhinoscopy, and fluoroscopy

+ Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services.

+ Calculate drug dosages

+ Anesthesia monitoring for diagnostic procedures and interventional radiology procedures

+ Assisting with postoperative care of the patient (recovery)

+ Maintain patient records

+ Client education and communication

+ Maintain a clean work environment to maintain any infectious disease protocols, handle medical/biomedical and infectious waste appropriately

Qualifications:

+ Active Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) in good standing, or eligibility to obtain certification in the IL.

+ Strong **technical skills** , including: Venipuncture and IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and familiarity with fluid therapy, sample collection, and laboratory procedures.

+ **Excellent communication skills** and the ability to provide compassionate client education and support
