DISTRICT OPERATIONS MANAGER
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Violations Process
+ Review delinquent reports and determine the severity of violations.
+ Handle routine and emergency phone calls to include but not limited to warrant requests, recommendations/guidance on case procedures and on policy.
+ Recommend appropriate disciplinary actions for Parole violations to include sanctions ranging from verbal reprimands to the request that a Board Warrant be issued.
+ Utilize discretionary authority to request issuance of a Board Warrant and then to determine if that warrant should be filed as a fugitive in Georgia only or nation-wide.
Hearing Process
+ Determine if a parole violator should be continued under parole supervision or if it is in the best interest of public safety to proceed with the revocation process.
+ Schedule and conduct Preliminary Parole Hearings statewide to determine if probable cause exists to proceed to a Revocation Hearing.
+ Prepare the Preliminary Parole Hearing Findings based on supporting testimony and evidence and recommendation for further action. If indicated, authorize immediate release from custody prior to Board review.
+ Schedule and serve as Hearing Officer and assistant to Board Member when conducting all Final Revocation Hearings statewide.
+ Complete all pre and post hearing documentation including but not limited to subpoenas, revocation orders and coordination memorandums for Department of Corrections.
Programs
+ Upon thorough review of cases, either at pre-revocation or post revocation status, make referrals to Parole Board programs to include but not limited to: Valdosta Parole Center, Washington Detention Center, Electronic Monitoring, and local counseling program.
Commutations
+ Review, recommend, and investigate cases eligible for commutation.
+ Prepare a thorough report to the Board.
Law Enforcement Function
+ Performs law enforcement function as authorized in O.C.G.A. section 42-9-48 and 42-9-9.1. Carries out all duties and responsibilities of a Criminal Investigator.
+ Receives 20 hours of POST certified training annually.
+ Re-qualifies with firearm bi-annually with a score of at least 240.
+ Provides security for Board Members when engaged in public events or in public places including, but not limited to the State of Georgia.
+ Participates in special operations or law enforcement details across the state
+ Transport parole violators back to the State of Georgia that have been cleared for extradition.
+ Attends Regional Task Force meetings.
Training
+ Serves as an adjunct POST Instructor during Basic Community Supervision Officer Training and/or In-service Training.
+ Provides extensive ongoing field training to officers assigned to the Department of Community Supervision regarding delinquent reports, warrant request, Revocation process across the state.
Other duties as assigned
+ Rotate the assignment of Parole Duty Officer for 7 day/24 hour day period making discretionary decisions regarding placing/lifting Parole Board holds as well as emergency reprieve requests.
+ Review cases that are ready to extradite and make the appropriate recommendation for extradition back to the State of Georgia.
**This is a Telework/Field Position which requires statewide travel and will have a vehicle assigned. ***
Bachelor's degree in any related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience in a related field OR Four years of experience in law enforcement or related field OR One year of experience required at the lower level Criminal Investigator 2 (PSP091) or position equivalent AND P.O.S.T. certification. Note: Some positions may require incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
