General Nature of Work
• Supervise, guide, and/or instruct the work assignments of subordinate staff.
• Provide consultation to departmental staff and others regarding epidemiologic issues
• Conducts epidemiologic investigations, surveillance, and interventions to implement methods of disease control and prevention
• Serve as the District's point of contact for epidemiologic issues
• Provide training, technical assistance, and consultative services on epidemiology and disease control
• Provides outstanding customer service
• Collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares epidemiological reports
• Maintains HIPAA standards related to Privacy and Security
• Responds to Public Health Emergencies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Epidemiologist 2 (HCP181) or position equivalent.. (Please mail or bring a copy of College Transcript or Diploma to Interview—must have official transcript prior to start date. This position requires the ability to lift up to 45 lbs., and the ability to bend and reach up.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field
• Previous employment with any state's Department of Public Health or a County Board of Health
• Experience conducting epidemiological case investigations and follow-up
• Public Media Communications Experience (Interviewing, Press releases)
• Skilled communicator and expertise in community engagement
• Experience analyzing large databases and statistical information
• Experience creating and presenting formal presentations
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite), SPSS
