Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Solid Waste & Recycling Outreach Specialist I . The Solid Waste & Recycling Outreach Specialist I reports to the Environmental Services Supervisor . The primary job duties of this position include:
+ Conduct field inspections to educate and gain compliance from residents, employees, and businesses.
+ Monitor and clear contamination from drop-off recycling locations.
+ Responsible for the setup, organization, and breakdown of event booths, involving physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and assembling materials to ensure an engaging and visually appealing presentation that attracts attendees. These events may be outside of normal business hours.
+ Attends special events to increase awareness of solid waste programs and services.
+ Attend and cover workshops, meetings, and conferences, as needed, as a representative for Gilbert’s Solid Waste & Recycling office. These events may be outside of normal business hours.
+ Assist II with creating and conducting presentations on waste reduction, waste diversion, and sustainability for schools, businesses, and employees.
+ Creates and distributes brochures, fliers, and educational notices

About You

+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Associate's degree preferred but not required.
+ 1 year of experience in a customer RELATIONS environment.
+ Circular Arizona Membership within 6 months of hire or promotion.
+ SWANA Membership within 6 months of hire or promotion.
+ Valid Arizona Driver's License required at the time of hire.
This position requires a pre-employment physical and/or drug screen.
This position has been designated as a medium work position that spends most of the workday in both an outdoor and office environment.
