Job Title: Structural Steel Inspector (traveling)
Job Description
As a Structural Steel Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and integrity of various structures and equipment. You will travel extensively to job sites, conducting inspections and collaborating with engineering teams to assess and document findings. Your expertise will help maintain the highest standards of safety and quality in industrial settings.
Responsibilities
+ Travel to job sites and complete site-specific safety training to understand facility hazards.
+ Complete daily work permits and required documentation.
+ Inspect structures and equipment for deficiencies, document findings, and take digital photos.
+ Collaborate with engineering teams to assess the severity of findings.
+ Read and interpret drawings to identify and label the location of observed deficiencies.
+ Review inspection specifications relevant to the structures being evaluated.
+ Create field sketches to illustrate the locations of structures or equipment within the facility.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in welding, structural engineering, steel inspection, and NDT inspection.
+ NDT Level II certification.
+ Strong skills in structural inspection and non-destructive testing.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
+ Experience in report writing and using AutoCAD.
+ 1+ year of experience inspecting structural steel, including welding and braces.
Nice to have:
+ Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
+ NDT experience or certification is a plus.
+ Manlift Certification is desirable.
+ Experience with overhead crane inspection is advantageous.
Work EnvironmentThis role involves working in diverse industrial settings, which may include manufacturing facilities for automotive, aerospace, or nuclear industries, among others. The job requires traveling 80% of the time, with most work being within two hours of the site, although overnight travel is frequent. The work environment is fast-paced, offering the opportunity to gain experience working with engineers, architects, and facility personnel.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
