    Job Description

    The Pathology Team Lead is responsible for maximizing efficiency, productivity, and teamwork among Histotechnicians and Laboratory Assistants. This role involves providing daily communication, supervision, and direction in line with company philosophy, goals, and objectives. The Pathology Team Lead will attend team leader meetings and lead team meetings, ensuring productive use of time. Additionally, the role includes creating and updating work schedules, approving PTO requests, managing timesheets, and providing weekly updates on various performance metrics.

    Responsibilities

    + Maximize team efficiency, productivity, and teamwork among Histotechnicians and Laboratory Assistants.

    + Provide daily communication, supervision, and direction.

    + Attend quarterly and monthly team leader meetings.

    + Lead approved team meetings at appropriate intervals.

    + Create and update dermpath staff work schedules.

    + Approve PTO requests, ensuring adequate staffing levels.

    + Manage timesheets and approve hours for payroll processing.

    + Provide weekly updates on team performance, overtime, attendance, schedule management, specimen volume data, and staffing needs.

    + Assist in hiring new team members and providing comprehensive orientation.

    + Complete 90-day and annual performance reviews and administer disciplinary action when required.

    + Accession, gross, measure, ink, cut, and input tissue information into the computer under the patient's name.

    + Process and embed tissues daily.

    + Cut tissues on a microtome and mount on slides for staining.

    + Stain tissues for H & E.

    + Perform immunohistochemistry or special stains by request.

    + Perform daily equipment maintenance, including changing solutions and maintaining temperatures.

    + File blocks routinely.

    + Troubleshoot and work with the dermatopathologist to maintain efficient workflow.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Associate’s Degree in a science-related field required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

    + Successful completion of a histology training course and ASCP certification required.

    + Minimum of 1 year of dermatology experience preferred.

    Work Environment

    This role operates in a state-of-the-art Pathology Laboratory. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities on weekends as the lab grows.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr.
