    The Senior IT Manager – Technical Training and Professional Development is a member of the Office of the CIO (OCIO) leadership team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of technical training and upskilling initiatives for the Global IT workforce. You will ensure alignment with Global IT strategy and goals by identifying skill gaps, curating and delivering targeted learning programs, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. You will collaborate closely with IT leadership, HR, Finance and external partners to design scalable, role-based learning programs that support both current and future technology capabilities across the organization.

    A typical day for the Senior IT Manager - Technical Training & Professional Development involves aligning strategic priorities and driving progress across programs such as the Technical Training Program, IT Manager Forum, Global IT New Hire Onboarding and the IT Sponsorship and Mentoring initiatives. This role includes high-level collaboration with HR and business partners to define learning goals, engaging with global stakeholders to support initiatives and advising leadership of potential early career program leaders. Whether refining content for the Extended Leadership Team (XLT) Learning & Development Series or ensuring digital accessibility across platforms, this leader plays a vital role in shaping the future of Medtronic’s Global IT workforce.

    + Manage and lead a team of highly skilled learning professionals.

    + Lead the strategic planning and execution of technical training programs and upskilling initiatives for the Global IT workforce, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology goals. Accountable for program leadership and program success.

    + Identify current and future skill gaps and develop scalable, role-based learning programs tailored to a diverse Global IT workforce.

    + Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Signature Technical Learning and Development programs, including but not limited to: IT Manager Forum, IT Signature Talent Program – The IT Bootcamp, IT Sponsorship, IT Mentoring, Global IT New Hire Onboarding Program, XLT Learning & Development Series, Shark Tank, HITEC Partnership, Capstone Program with the Carlson School of Management, Technical Training Program and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to curate relevant content and ensure program effectiveness.

    + Create, maintain, and report on program success by liaising with key stakeholders and implementation resource groups to ensure alignment of priorities.

    + Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using data-driven insights to refine learning strategies and maximize impact.

    + Provide strategic consultation and guidance to the Early Career Advisory Board.

    + Champion digital accessibility across all learning platforms and content to ensure inclusive and equitable access.

    + Provide monthly metrics on program performance and offer leadership guidance on areas requiring additional focus or improvement.

    + Promote a culture of innovation, continuous learning, innovation, technical upskilling and professional development across the Global IT organization.

    **MUST HAVE** (Minimum Qualifications)

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

    + 5+ years of managerial experience

    **NICE TO HAVE** (Preferred Qualifications)

    + Strongly Preferred:

    + 7+ years of experience in a relevant technology-focused role.

    + Proven experience in Technical Training or Training and Development.

    + Ability to foster growth and development of team members by providing coaching, mentorship, and opportunities for skill-building and career progression.

    + Adept at setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure individual and team success.

    + Seamlessly manage team capacity, allocate resources effectively, and identify skills or talent gaps to ensure projects and initiatives are delivered successfully.

    + Create a positive and inclusive work environment that motivates and engages employees, recognizing their contributions and addressing concerns proactively.

    + Solid understanding of the technical subjects being taught to employees.

    + Awareness of the evolving technical landscape, with up-to-date knowledge of trends and best practices (e.g., AI/Gen AI, Hyperautomation, Agentic technologies).

    + Ability to design and deliver effective training programs.

    + Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.

    + Skilled in fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and accountability, with a focus on developing technical talent through mentoring, career pathing, and performance feedback.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software tools.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

    + High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.

    + Previous experience in healthcare, medical device, or technology industries.

    + Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Senior Professional in HR (SPHR).

    + Experience in organizing large-scale events, conferences, or corporate meetings.

    + Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$156,000.00 - $234,000.00

     

    This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

     

    The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

     

    Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
