UPMC Jameson, located in New Castle, PA. has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, in the Medical Staff Services department. This full-time position is primarily a Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm shift with some flexibility. This position could require travel between UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon locations as needed.
The Medical Staff Services Manager will manage the functions of the Medical Staff Office including credentialing, clinical privileges, medical staff bylaws, accreditation, medical staff committees, and confidential records and data bases. Manages and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations and coordination of medical Staff and allied Health Professional activities.

Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with the Central Verifications Office (CVO) to ensure timely credentialing and re-credentialing for Medical Staff and Mid-Level Providers. Maintain MSO database.
+ Plan, organize, manage and direct all aspects of the Medical Staff Service department related to the pre-application, privileging, credentialing and re-credentialing (reappointment) for the Medical Staff and Mid-Level Provider Staff. Ensure compliance with primary verification, Joint Commission, DOH and National Data Bank requirements.
+ Develops and maintains medical staff office policies and procedures
+ Manages the Medical Staff office employees assigned, the Medical Staff Office budget and the Medical Staff Fund.
+ Managerial skills to oversee subordinates and to manage office. Strong organizational and planning skills. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws applicable to Medical Staff Services. Knowledge of The Joint Commission and State Department of health accreditation requirements.
+ Ability to maintain confidential information and adhere to established policies even under pressure of coercion.
+ Implements and processes necessary documents to ensure compliance with OPPE and FPPE requirements for both medical staff and allied health practitioners.
+ Oversees the maintenance of the credentialing database system to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of credentialing and demographic information for all physicians and Allied Health Practitioners.
+ Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient
+ Manages the maintenance of accurate clinical privileges information on physicians and allied health professionals often in collaboration with Health Maintenance Organizations and other managed care programs or contracts.
+ Ability to handle interactions and establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with diverse entities including individual physicians, Allied Health professionals and a broad range of agencies and organizations.
+ Manages all medical staff office activities including medical staff committees and meeting minutes.
+ Maintains thorough knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws Policies and Rules and Regulations to support and advise medical staff and its officers in managing the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals.
+ Maintains thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, the Joint Commission medical staff requirements and Risk Management requirements for physicians and allied health professionals. Directs the medical staff Joint Commission and other accreditation programs as they relate to physicians, allied health professionals, and medical staff.
Bachelor's degree required. 4 years of supervisory experience in a Health Care organization or related field with 1 year of credentialing/re-credentialing experience required.
OR Associate's degree or equivalent on the job experience in supervising a Medical Staff Office. A minimum of 1 year in a credentialing supervisory role. Five to Seven years credentialing/re-credentialing experience required.
Demonstrated analytical ability to interpret data/statistics, determine areas for improvement and recommend solutions. Successful demonstration of the completion of the competencies required by the department/unit.
This individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the departments policy and procedures.
