Join our dedicated team at UPMC Western MD as a Medical Assistant in the Outpatient Behavioral Health department. This role is essential in ensuring smooth patient flow and providing top-notch care to our patients.
This is a full time, day shift position. No weekends or holidays required!
Key Responsibilities:
+ Patient Coordination: Check schedules, organize patient flow, and accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms.
+ Patient Assistance: Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
+ Clinical Support: Collect patient information/history, take vitals, perform screenings, and relay instructions to patients and families.
+ Medical Records Management: Send/receive patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
+ Room and Equipment Preparation: Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, and maintain cleanliness and infection control standards.
+ Inventory Management: Manage and restock supplies in exam/procedure rooms.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and PA Department of Health requirements.
+ Phlebotomy and Procedures: Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, level one labs, and assist physicians with procedures.
+ Documentation: Document patient information into medical records accurately.
+ Communication: Answer calls, provide patient education, and relay pertinent information.
+ Administrative Tasks: Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, complete forms/requisitions, schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and manage patient charts.
+ Medication Administration: Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines.

+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
