    Custom Job Purpose:

    This position exists to perform responsible administrative work in providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of multi-tiered systems to promote student learning and teacher effectiveness, and supervising districtwide, comprehensive services in the performance of MTSS in the areas of academics, behavior/mental health, and attendance, including students with disabilities. This includes but is not limited to professional development, coaching structures, and evaluation and implementation tools. Consulting with cross-functional departments on assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining initiatives and efforts to provide school support, technical assistance to and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support the initiation, capacity building, and sustainability of implementation across the District, and lead implementers in assessing needs, and problem-solving to further implementation.

     

    Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Performs all administrative duties for the department personnel, including staff development and evaluation of job performance. Provide articulation between the district office, school principals, and assistant principals related to multi-tiered support systems for academics, behavior/mental health (PBIS), and attendance.

     

    Plan and lead MTSS specific district committee meetings. Communicate information to all district stakeholders. Work with Professional Development to plan and execute staff development activities for school principals, assistant principals, and administrative assistants (deans). Create and implement structures for collaboration across district departments, building level administration, and teachers to ensure quality programming for students with academic and behavioral needs per district, state, and federal guidelines. Facilitate communication and collaboration with various departments, including but not limited to Assessment, Accountability, and Evaluation, K-12 Curriculum, Preschool Programs, Professional Development, Learning Support, Exceptional Student Education, Behavior & Mental Health, Discipline, and Student Services. Actively participate in the implementation of the District's vision for student achievement.

     

    Plan, support, and evaluate Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to increase implementation fidelity in all schools in the District. Implement a system to collect fidelity and behavioral outcome data that will be used to monitor progress and inform planning at the individual, school, and district levels. Ensure schools are supported by providing coaching, training, and the technical support needed to facilitate student success. facilitate training and coaching of Classroom Management and Student Behavioral Support Strategies, oversee the implementation of the CHAMPS initiative as part of the PBIS Framework, and assist the District to identify the need for and implement system-wide change that will result in increased social, emotional, and behavioral skill development of all students.

     

    Research and coordinate the selection of instructional/program materials and resources associated with MTSS. Remains current on the latest pedagogical studies relating to discipline, restorative justice, and programming for alternative education. Conducts research and makes recommendations to the Associate Superintendent for Teaching & Learning to improve specialized school programs and student discipline procedures. Participate in the process of adopting instructional and behavioral materials.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Thorough knowledge and experience in implementing or coaching a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), to include PBIS. Knowledge of and ability to articulate and achieve alignment around the goals, objectives, and outcomes for a Multi-Tiered system in schools. Experience and knowledge of academic and behavior interventions to support high-quality instruction for all students and meet students' individual needs. Ability to work collaboratively within/across departments to build relationships among stakeholders to support the implementation of an MTSS model.

     

    Demonstrated skills in facilitation, conflict resolution, and adult learning. Ability to work independently and to contribute as a team member. Ability to analyze data and modify approaches accordingly. Experience with measurement tools for various levels of assessment. Excellent oral, written, and public speaking communication skills. Ability to use word processing and spreadsheets. High level of interpersonal skills.

     

    Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree with certification in elementary or secondary education. Certification in educational leadership is required. Classroom teaching experience required with extensive knowledge of implementation of school-wide systems to enhance students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development and experience in facilitation of professional learning is required.

Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the District. Opportunity to make decisions without supervision. Responsible for work outcomes and results. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.

    Physical Environment:

    Requires sitting and some standing, walking, and moving about to coordinate work. Requires coordinating and leading others in accomplishing work activities. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and teams. Requires the ability to lift, carry, move, or position objects infrequently, weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and worksites within the District.
