    Job Title: School-Age Program Facilitator

     

    Report to: Child Development Center Director

    Classification: Non-Exempt

    Job Type: Part-time, 20 hours/week. Summer camp hours vary..

     

    Salary: $12.00 hour

    SUMMARY

    ASYMCA seeks an experienced part-time teacher who will play an important role in the direction of children in the after-school classroom and assist with the implementation of program curriculum. Candidate can provide quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. Give leadership, direction, and supervision to an assigned group of children in the before/afterschool childcare program. Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences. Create an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child. Comfort children in distress immediately and show as much individual attention as possible to each child while being cognizant of your group.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the supervision of the Child Development Center Director at ASYMCA-El Paso, the School-Age Program Facilitator will have the following responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

    • Develop and prepare plans outlining learning experiences and activities for a group of children.

    • Take an active role in the development of performance objectives, implement and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes.

    • Implement the children’s learning programs to meet the needs, special interest of children in accordance with the lesson plan.

    • Responsible for the safety of the children, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessary.

    • Participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings to meet the continuing education requirements established by the licensing office.

    • Always interact positively with the children including during dinnertime, snack time, group activity, and outdoor time.

    • Play a key role in the development of short and long-term plans for programs and activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.

    • Visual ability to write reports, curriculum plans, letters, and observe children. May be required to physically intervene in situations where the safety of a child may be compromised

    • Participate in special events, field trips and special programs.

    • Must have clean driving record and have current valid driver’s license.

    • Must be able to drive cargo van and/or 15-passenger bus as needed.

    • Understand and maintain compliance with state regulations and inspections procedures, as well as policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.

    • Support the programs and mission of the ASYMCA.

    • Assist with other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED

    • At least 18 years of age.

    • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

    • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

    • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-propriate/developmentally-appropriate program activities.

    • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

    • Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.

    • MUST have valid driver's license.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.

    • Position is physically demanding and requires constant bending, stooping, and lifting (15lbs), as well as walking and standing; must be willing to assist in moving household items and furniture.

    • Ability to drive a short school bus.
