    Job Overview

     

    Grand Itasca and Fairview Range are hiring** **a Regional Infection Preventionist for our** **Infection Prevention** **team in** **Grand Rapids and Hibbing, MN** **.

     

    The Infection Preventionist develops, implements and monitors infection control standards for patients, visitors, volunteers and healthcare workers at Fairview Range and Grand Itasca. They serve as a resource for staff, providers and leadership on infection prevention policies and practices, and help improve patient care by identifying risks and facilitating interventions **.**

     

    **Schedule:** This position will work 80 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the day shift. Weekends: None

    As a Regional Infection Preventionist you will be responsible for:

    + Coordinates and maintains an organization-wide infection control and surveillance program.

    + Conducts epidemiological investigations.

    + Ensures compliance with system policies for identifying, reporting, investigating, preventing, and controlling infections.

    + Facilitates processes to improve clinical outcomes and patient safety.

    + Educates staff on principles and techniques of Infection Prevention.

    + Consults with nursing and medical staff on infection control and employee health issues.

    + Facilitates ICRA process and monitoring during construction projects.

    + Prepares periodic reports for quality and operational committees.

    + Meets mandatory reporting requirements to MDH and CDC.

    + Assists in regulatory rounding to ensure compliance with TJC, OSHA, MDH standards.

    + Evaluates the effectiveness of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or biology; or current licensure/certification in one the following: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Registered Nurse (RN), or Respiratory Therapist (RT).

    + Current CIC (Certification in Infection Control) or willingness to obtain certification within one year of eligibility.

    + Minimum of one year in an Infection Prevention role or related clinical experience.

    + Knowledge of quality improvement tools and group process skills.

    + Skilled in investigation, analyses, data collection and report writing.

    + Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.

    The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
