    Job Description:

    We are seeking an Employee Communications Manager who will be a part of our US Communications team in US C&EA.

     

    This leadership role on the Business Communications team will be based in Houston, Texas, which boasts bp’s largest concentration of employees worldwide.

    The role will focus on:

    + **Executive engagement:** The candidate will work extensively with bp America’s senior leadership, and supports executive communications with thought leadership content for a range of executives, including head of country (US) and head of C&EA Americas.

    + **Employee engagement and campus communications:** Leading the planning and delivery of strategic, innovative, and creative communication campaigns with a goal of increasing employee engagement across the US and maintaining bp’s strong culture. By using our various communications channels, the candidate will provide timely updates to employees, focusing on Houston & Chicago as main employee hubs.

    + **Benefits communications:** Leading the development and implementation of a robust year-round Benefits communications campaign – highlighting bp’s Wellbeing program and benefits offers, with a goal of increasing participation and engagement across the US.

    + Beyond an understanding of the current and emerging communications channels, the successful candidate will be:

    + _detail oriented:_ ensuring all messages are accurate and aligned to group messaging where appropriate

    + _creative:_ seeking new opportunities that deliver our communications are engaging and efficient in delivery.

    + _collaborative_ : ability to consistently work across US C&EA to ensure they are understanding business developments and spotting opportunities to tell bp’s story

    + Must bring experience handling multiple major projects simultaneously while remaining focused on long-term priorities.

    Key Accountabilities:

    + **Communications leadership** : Deliver strategic, innovative and creative communication campaigns spanning multiple channels that support nationwide employee engagement, with a focus on Houston & Chicago facilities primarily.

    + **Guiding strategy** : Maintains a focus on the communications strategy and working across teams to develop content – focusing on clearly-defined objectives that underpin the overall US Communications strategy.

    + **Executive content:** Engaging senior leadership, including the executive team, to ensure their consistent presence among key internal partners.

    + **Messaging:** Ensure clear and consistent messages reaches targeted audiences (employees, contractors etc) on all campaigns.

    + **Measurement:** Measuring outcomes to ensure impact and adjusting when necessary

    + **Managing** **budget** : Maintains detailed focus on overall (Benefits comms) budget, outstanding resources, how to establish efficiencies and eliminate superfluous spending.

    Education:

    + A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

    Job Requirements:

    + Professional track record in a large organization and evidence of leading projects from concept to completion using a number of tools and solutions.

    + Experience leading and developing a team

    + Conceptual thinker who can sell a story and thrives on creative solutions

    + Experience partnering with executive team members on internal communications

    + Excellent coordination, communication, project management and networking skills; proven analytical, problem solving and budget management skills.

    + Must be able to manage multiple partner’s interests and needs, with an ability to influence senior leadership and encourage others.

    + Outstanding writing, editing and oral communication skills.

    + Very strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

    Desirable Criteria:

    + Experience in the energy industry is a plus but not a requirement

    + Collaborative mentality – a natural ability to work across businesses and through various teams within Communications and External Affairs.

    + Enjoys and has the capability for working with a global and diverse organization

    + Consistently meets high standard of quality, performance, and productivity

    + Produce desired results in a timely and highly proficient manner without supervision

    + Teammate in immediate work group as well as across the organization

    + Demonstrate absolute discretion in handling confidential data

    + Seeks additional responsibilities and uses innovation to improve job knowledge and procedures.

    + Demands professional excellence of self and takes personal accountability for individual and team work product

    + Establishes strong credibility with business partners, collaborators.

    + Strong Interpersonal skills

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    + Proactive and forward thinking.
