Summary
The Senior Data Engineer plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the marketing organization. This position is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards, optimizing data architecture, and translating marketing goals into meaningful, actionable insights. As the marketing team’s go-to expert in data modeling and reporting, this person will work closely with internal stakeholders, IT, and BI teams to ensure clean, scalable, and insightful reporting solutions that support both day-to-day execution and long-term strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
+ Engage with marketing stakeholders to gather and translate reporting needs into technical requirements.
+ Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and visualizations aligned with marketing performance goals.
+ Write SQL queries to extract, join, and manipulate data from a variety of sources.
+ Generate reusable data models to support ongoing marketing and sales efforts improving business visibility and decision support.
+ Collaborate with enterprise data teams to close data gaps and define new datasets that improve reporting accuracy.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for marketing-specific reporting requests, managing intake, prioritization, and delivery.
+ Proactively monitor dashboards for accuracy, reliability, and user engagement.
+ Analyze campaign performance, customer behavior, and KPI trends across CTOS’s verticals (e.g., equipment preferences, seasonality, engagement) providing new visibility recommendations to leadership.
+ Present clear, actionable insights to internal stakeholders to improve marketing strategies.
+ Provide training and documentation to drive dashboard adoption and improve data literacy.
+ Collaborate across departments to maintain reporting standards and ensure consistent data governance.
+ Ensure compliance with company data security and reporting standards.
+ Assist with testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of software updates related to reporting infrastructure.
+ Continuously explore tools and technologies that can improve the marketing data ecosystem.
Required Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
+ 5-7 years of experience in a business intelligence, or data analytics role.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard design.
+ Experience with Power Query (M language) for advanced data transformation.
+ Strong SQL skills, including experience building and optimizing database queries.
+ Skilled in designing data models optimized for report consumption, with a focus on reusability, minimizing server load, and reducing ongoing maintenance efforts.
+ Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance in cloud-based data environments.
+ Solid understanding of data structures, performance metrics, and reporting workflows.
+ Comfortable working with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver insights.
+ Ability to translate complex data into intuitive, visual reports for non-technical users.
+ Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
+ Understanding of marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) and their data structures.
+ Familiarity with marketing KPIs and digital performance metrics.
+ Familiarity with Infor M3, Salesforce, E-Commerce platforms, and other line-of-business applications.
+ Experience with statistical analysis, Python, or machine learning frameworks is a plus.
+ Experience with REST APIs and webhooks for integrating external data sources into reporting workflows.
+ Experience managing access rights and role-based security in Power BI and SQL Server environments.
+ Exposure to AI technologies, including generative AI, natural language models, and AI-assisted analytics.
+ Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality management.
Physical Requirements
+ Minimal travel (up to 10%) for team meetings.
+ Ability to work in a standard office environment.
+ Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
