As the Engagement Coordinator, you will provide leadership and coordination with staff at all levels to assess equity and inclusion awareness and capacity, plan initiatives to build equity and inclusion, and support the implementation of those activities at all levels of the agency. The position will utilize their specialized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) knowledge to develop and deliver training that reflects the governors’ and commissioners’ goals to advance equity throughout all our work. In doing this, the incumbent will coordinate and work with other equity directors, division directors and other leadership in different administrations.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
+ Provide leadership and direction to division directors and staff to promote agency wide strategy to advance equity and inclusion.
+ Serve as a key advisor and consultant for groups outside DHS to build trusting relationships and positive connections with the communities we serve. Act as the engagement leader and spokesperson for OEI at community functions.
+ Partner with staff in HR and the Assistant Commissioner for Employee Culture to identify Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion needs; these include partnerships on projects, trainings, and development on policies.
+ Partner with the Diversity Recruitment and Retention team to develop and implement an innovative and effective agency-wide hiring and retention efforts related to equity and inclusion, as outlined in DHS Affirmative Action Plan.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years experience administering a DEI/Antiracism program within an organization at the policy level demonstrating the following:
+ Broad knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, antiracism and change management principles.
+ Human relations skills, manage programs, staff, budgets, and processes.
+ Experience with continuous improvement tools and methodologies to lead and/or assist teams in continuously analyzing, improving, and monitoring processes over time.
+ Understanding of theory and practices of equity and antiracism analysis.
+ Experience drafting policy and training others on analyzing policy through an equity lens.
+ Ability to interpret and synthesize data from various analytical tools to support informed decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Cultural knowledge from lived experience and/or education on BIPOC experiences.
+ Understanding of the legislative process.
+ Organizational management and continuous improvement skills to track and measure desired outcomes.
+ Experience measuring effective of trainings and other initiatives.
+ Project leadership experience to lead meetings and provide clear direction to program staff.
+ Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
