    This position will work from a home office location.

     

    This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of building occupants, workers, and the general public in the State of Minnesota by verifying that all boilers and pressure vessels in Minnesota are constructed and installed in accordance with the standards of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), and State of Minnesota boiler code. It also ensures that boilers are operated in compliance with Minnesota rules and regulations, by qualified, licensed engineers.

     

    Perform inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in the assigned geographical area to ensure that they are in safe working condition and being used in an appropriate manner.

     

    Additionally, this position is responsible for enforcing Unites States Coast Guard and State of Minnesota regulations governing boats for hire.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Minnesota Chief Engineer Grade A license.

    + A National Board Inspector’s Commission must be obtained within one year of employment with the Construction Codes and Licensing Division.

    + Knowledge of and ability to use computers, including Microsoft products.

    + Good verbal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to interact effectively with clientele, general public, and DLI employees.

    + Ability to travel in-state and/or overnight.

    + Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Current National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector commission.

    + Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).
