Salary: $24.75/Hour Minimum Per Teamsters Contract

Report Times: 6:30am - 3:00pm (Monday - Friday)
Daily Hours: 8.5 (8 Paid)
Work Year: 12 Months

Civil Service Title: Maintenance Mechanic I
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a skilled worker in one (1) or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades.
NOTE: Additional experience may be substituted for the high school diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Desired Qualifications:
Installing, Maintaining and Repairing Electrical Components, Systems and Equipment;
Complete understanding of State and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code;
Working Knowledge of Electrical Systems, Reading Blue Prints or Technical Diagrams;
Working knowledge of hand and power tools to include conduit benders, saws;
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting, Manual dexterity, endurance;
Ability to read schematics, perform research, follow instructions;
Ability to give direction and work under supervision;
Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, lifts and roofs in all weather conditions;
Ability to collaborate with Architects and Engineers in design of electrical systems.
Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Install and repair wiring, equipment, motors, controls, fixtures and lighting systems;
Assemble, install and test appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools;
Install, maintain, modify and repair electrical distribution systems and electrical equipment;
Construct and fabricate parts;
Inspect and test components of electrical systems, transformers, transfer switches and switch gear;
Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans;
Install, Maintain and repair communication systems;
Identify and diagnose malfunctioning systems, electrical problems using testing devices;
Ensure equipment and components are working properly;
Provide assistance during emergencies, install and operate [industrial KW generators;
Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment;
Perform business management duties such as completing work orders, preparing reports, order supplies and maintaining records;
Other duties as assigned.
Daily attendance is expected.
