• Recreation Therapist (part-time)

    Recreation Therapists are encouraged to consider an available part-time position with Liberty Healthcare.

     

    Liberty Healthcare operates a specialized mental health program within the West Valley Detention Center – a San Bernardino County jail located in Rancho Cucamonga.

     

    This program provides high quality assessment and treatment services to adult inmates who are justice involved and experiencing mental illness.

     

    As a Recreation Therapist with Liberty Healthcare’s mental health program, you will work onsite at the jail and provide therapeutic recreation services to adult clients.

     

    You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team which is comprised of talented and dedicated clinical and ancillary professionals.

    Your day to day work will include:

    + Actively engaging program clients and meeting with them individually and in groups

    + Interviewing clients to assess their recreational interests

    + Designing and facilitating myriad therapeutic recreation activities

    + Documenting services

    + Actively participating in staff meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning

    + Collaborating with psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, mental health clinicians, ancillary professionals and jail security staff

    As a part-time Recreation Therapist with Liberty Healthcare, you can expect:

    + Starting compensation between $37.00 and $45.00 per hour

     

    Liberty takes into consideration relevant work experience, education (Bachelors or Masters degree), and professional certifications and credentials when determining a new hire’s specific starting pay.

     

    You have the option to work one 8-hour day a week or three 8-hour days a week. Work hours would be during weekday daytime hours.

     

    You are a good fit for this position if you have a Bachelors or Masters degree in therapeutic recreation, physical education, recreation administration, or a related field.

     

    You should also be certified by the CBRPC as a Recreation Therapist or the NCTRC as a CTRS – or be eligible for one of these professional credentials and actively pursuing certification.

     

    Lastly, you should have an interest in serving people who are experiencing mental illness.
