    Duties Description Are you interested in starting or advancing your career with New York State? Kingsboro Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Psychiatrist 2 - Outpatient. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As a Psychiatrist 2, you will provide psychiatric care and treatment services, supervise care activities, and oversee the administration of treatments.Duties will include:• Performing psychiatric screenings, evaluations, and examinations. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures, diagnosing, and treating various psychiatric conditions.• Administering psychiatric treatments, medications, and therapies; Conducting follow-up exams and modifying treatments as needed.• Explain results, diagnoses, and treatments with individuals, families, and caregivers.• Collaborate on discharge planning for continuity of care.• Consult and advise with other licensed physicians and healthcare providers on diagnoses and treatment plans, and approves treatment recommendations.• Providing clinical supervision to Psychiatrists, physicians, and/or other medical providers.• Managing and supervising psychiatric care and treatments for an assigned facility, unit, or program.• Performing supervisory duties, developing, implementing, and revising clinical policies and procedures.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and have certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

     

    Additional Comments Psychiatrists at OMH facilities are eligible for:• Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000• Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage• Defense and Indemnification Protection- broader in scope than typical medical malpractice coverage• OMH sponsored Continuing Medical Education (CME) ProgramAll OMH employees receive a generous benefits package including:• NYS medical, dental, & vision insurance• Access to tuition assistance programs• Excellent opportunities for advancement & professional growth• Paid time off – 13 paid vacation days in the first year, 5 paid personal days, 13 paid holidays, & paid sick leave• NYS Retirement programsBackground checks will be required.Additional Comments:This position is eligible for a down state adjustment of $4,000.NOTE:1. If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.2. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.3. License and Certification: Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.
