Salary: $24.75/Hour Minimum + $3 Group Leader

Report Times: 8.5 (8 Paid)

Daily Hours: 1:00pm - 9:30pm

Work Year: 12 months

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of eighth grade plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Desired Qualifications:

A 3rd class Stationary Engineer License and a New York State Swimming Pool Operator License;

Hands on experience in the use of cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment;

Working knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures in a school facility;

Ability to use computers and related software;

Five (5) years experience performing custodial duties, including at least two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities in a public school system are required;

Attention to detail;

Ability to deal with people at all organizational levels and good administrative, analytical, interactive, planning, problem solving and oral and written communications skills;

Demonstrated ability for directing and motivating people.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

Supervises and schedules the work of cleaners ,custodians and substitute cleaners;

Conducts inspections of cleaning, disinfection and maintenance activities. Ensures the overall cleanliness and trash removal of assigned facilities, including the proper cleaning and disinfections of floors, walls, furniture and surfaces;

Provides training to custodial personnel and ensures rules and district policies are followed;

Ensures the availability of necessary cleaning supplies, materials and equipment through maintenance of an adequate inventory and planned ordering;

Directs the removal of snow and control of ice from roadways, parking lots and walkways. Ensures grounds are well maintained;

Directs performance of routine and preventative maintenance procedures on equipment;

Directs the movement of supplies, materials, furnishings and equipment to meet the needs of facilities;

Participates in the product evaluation of supplies and equipment;

Provides input of staff performance and performs the special assignments;

Attends seminars, conferences and training courses to keep abreast of the latest developments and trends regarding custodial procedures and practices;

On call for returning to the facility for an emergency such as but not limited to break-ins, broken windows and fire alarms etc.;
