Description We are looking for an experienced VP/Director of Finance to lead and optimize financial operations for our organization in Machias, Maine. This is a long-term contract position, offering an excellent opportunity to oversee financial planning, reporting, and management processes. The ideal candidate will bring strategic expertise and a proven track record in managing budgets, forecasting, and ensuring financial stability.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and oversee the organization’s annual budgeting process to align financial goals with strategic objectives.
• Manage month-end closing procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Implement and monitor effective budget processes that support organizational efficiency.
• Prepare detailed and timely financial reports for stakeholders to inform decision-making.
• Analyze cash flow forecasts to maintain liquidity and ensure optimal financial management.
• Provide recommendations for financial strategies and improvements based on data-driven insights.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
• Collaborate with department heads to align financial resources with operational needs.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices in all financial activities.
• Lead and mentor a finance team, fostering growth and excellence in performance. Requirements • Extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of month-end closing procedures and accounting principles.
• Proven ability to manage cash flow and optimize financial resources.
• Expertise in developing and implementing efficient budget processes.
• Demonstrated ability to create accurate and comprehensive financial reports.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and financial risk management.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree or certification preferred.
