    Description

    We are looking for a skilled and experienced Director of Finance to join our non-profit organization in Fresno, California. This long-term contract position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in nonprofit accounting, particularly within relevant programs and services. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization’s mission through effective budgeting and reporting.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.

    • Ensure financial records comply with US GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards, maintaining accuracy and completeness.

    • Apply expertise in medical accounting to manage the financial aspects of relevant programs and collaborate with program managers on performance tracking.

    • Lead the annual budgeting process, working with department heads to develop realistic budgets and financial forecasts.

    • Prepare detailed financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including grantors and regulatory agencies.

    • Ensure adherence to all financial regulations and reporting requirements, mitigating risks and maintaining compliance.

    • Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and implementing recommended improvements to internal controls.

    • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

    • Provide training and guidance on accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance team effectiveness.

     

    Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.

     

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, with a focus on healthcare financial management.

    • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and nonprofit financial principles, including fund accounting and grant reporting.

    • Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting, with experience in forecasting and annual budget preparation.

    • Advanced skills in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across teams and presenting financial data clearly.

    • Familiarity with auditing processes and the ability to implement internal control improvements based on audit recommendations.
