Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Kirkland, Washington. This role is ideal for a meticulous individual with expertise in financial statement preparation, audit processes, and government or education-related accounting. The position requires a proactive individual who can work independently and effectively manage complex financial reporting tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary liaison with auditors, ensuring clear communication and timely delivery of required documentation.

• Manage multi-year financial statement audits, including gathering and organizing information from legacy systems.

• Perform grant accounting, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and reporting standards.

• Handle full-cycle accounting processes to ensure accurate preparation and analysis of financial statements.

• Prepare financial disclosures and reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards, such as GASB.

• Utilize accounting software like PeopleSoft to manage financial data and reporting.

• Conduct month-end close procedures, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliation.

• Perform account and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.

• Work independently to streamline manual processes and improve efficiency in audit preparation.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and disclosures.

• Proven experience with government or education-related accounting and reporting.

• Solid understanding of audit procedures and the ability to navigate multi-year audits.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as PeopleSoft.

• Proficiency in month-end close, general ledger reconciliation, and journal entries.

• Experience with grant accounting and compliance reporting.

• Ability to work independently and manage complex accounting tasks efficiently.

• Knowledge of GASB standards and financial reporting requirements.
