Description We are looking for a skilled Accounting Manager to lead and manage the accounting functions of a growing $90MM distribution company in Troy, Michigan. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in general accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining the integrity of the organization’s accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with standard practices and company policies.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring and adjusting entries.

• Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate account coding and reconciliations.

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records promptly and accurately.

• Lead the month-end close process, including accruals, deferrals, and financial statement preparation.

• Collaborate with the Controller to draft and review month-end reporting packages, ensuring timely submission.

• Support annual audit preparations and assist with tax filings.

• Develop and implement best practices to improve workflows and enhance financial controls.

• Mentor and guide less experienced accounting staff, providing training and resolving escalated issues. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 1-2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

• Advanced knowledge of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.

• Proficiency in enterprise accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.

• CPA or similar designation is a plus but not mandatory.

• Experience in distribution, supply chain, or manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
