Description
A Hospital in Los Angeles with a growing revenue cycle department is in the need of a Patient Account Rep the team in Los Angeles, California. The Patient Account Rep will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient processing of cash receipts, resolving medical billing discrepancies, and providing support across various revenue cycle functions. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment and are committed to delivering high-quality financial services. The ideal person for this role must have a background either medical billing, medical collection or payment posting.
Responsibilities:
• Process cash receipts from automated and manual payers, ensuring accuracy in posting, batch balancing, and reconciliation.
• Review EOB’s and identify issues or discrepancies
• Investigate and resolve issues related to unposted or unapplied cash, escalating complex cases to supervisors when necessary.
• Review and address correspondences related to refunds and recoupments, including issuing refund requests or disputing claims with payers.
• Evaluate credit balances and ensure timely issuance of refunds to the appropriate payers.
• Collaborate with finance and other revenue cycle departments to improve cash posting and reconciliation processes.
• Update payer information and resubmit claims to ensure proper billing practices.
• Perform cross-trained duties such as charge entry, insurance eligibility verification, and resolving billing edits.
• Address patient inquiries and resolve self-pay credit balances while maintaining high levels of customer service.
• Participate in special projects such as compliance audits, payer initiatives, and billing for unique services like LOAs or embassy cases.
• Serve as a backup for the Revenue Cycle Support Service Clerk and assist with other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements • Proficiency in accounting software systems and computerized billing processes.
• Experience with EHR systems, including Epic Software.
• Knowledge of financial functions such as accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
• Strong ability to analyze and resolve billing and payment discrepancies.
• Familiarity with insurance verification processes and eligibility requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for handling inbound calls and resolving patient concerns.
• Ability to meet productivity and quality standards consistently.
• Prior experience in a healthcare or revenue cycle environment is highly desirable.
