    General Statement

    The mobile health training program ( MHTP ) is an interprofessional team of nursing faculty, nursing students, and dental professionals who provide screening, preventive care, and case management for American Indian children living on Montana Reservations. Nursing faculty and students from Montana State University and dental professional team members provide critical healthcare services for American Indian children while assisting Montana’s Tribal Nations in meeting the Office of Head Start health requirements and providing clinical practice opportunities for nursing students. The MHTP provides critical clinical training placements for undergraduate and graduate nursing students while increasing access to care for high priority Montana schoolchildren.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Health Informaticist will focus on optimizing the use of information technology in school-based healthcare settings to improve patient care, enhance clinical workflows, and facilitate data-driven decision making. The Health Informaticist will leverage their understanding of both information technology and healthcare to facilitate data-driven decision making toward excellent outcomes for clients of the school-based health center and for long-term sustainability of school-based services. The individual in this role be responsible for data collection, management, analysis, and reporting activities described in the NEPQR grant narrative funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration.

     

    The primary activity is tracking clinical encounters between mobile health training program ( MHTP ) clinicians and school-based health center clients/patients. In partnership with tribal Head Start, Early Head Start, elementary, middle, and high schools, the MHTP is responsible for detailed reporting of clinical information through the Uniform Data System including managing patient records and using advanced techniques for intercommunication between various electronic health records (Child Plus, Daphne, Curve) and the federal record system (Uniform Data System). Additional responsibilities are related to clinical service delivery including planning travel for the interprofessional team, purchasing and maintaining equipment, documenting travel and project related expenses, and compiling and analyzing data reports from the associated software programs. Careful attention to research with human subjects, proper completion of paperwork for participants including tracking incentives, and data collection instruments will be required.

     

    + Manage interoperability, data security, and regulatory compliance for Daphne, Curve, ChildPlus, the Uniform Data System and other multiple health record systems.

    + Design and implement electronic workflow protocols into multiple health record systems.

    + Manage sensitive records, including confidential patient information and medical records.

    + Perform data collection, entry, and analysis.

    + Use data to create reports for funding agencies and for academic dissemination.

    + Use date to create infographics for use in a variety of media and publications.

    + Purchase, track, set up, maintain, and transport equipment utilized for mobile health clinics.

    + Manage purchases and document program related expenses in Chrome River, SmartBuy, and other financial systems.

    + Convene, attend, and participate in teleconference meetings with the School Based Health Center Alliance members.

    + Review written documents for grant proposals and grant deliverables.

    + Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders.

    + Crosstrain with small team to plan, organize, manage, and oversee mobile health clinics throughout Montana in coordination with Community partners.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

    + Combination of education and/or applicable experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in health informatics or other closely related field.

    + Training in FHIR techniques for data interoperability.

    + Demonstrated experience utilizing the Uniform Data System.

    + Demonstrated experience dealing with various groups of individuals and/or communities in various situations with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

    + Demonstrated experience providing verbal and written communication in a professional manner.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

    + Master’s degree in Health Informatics or closely related field.

    + Knowledge of American Indian cultures, history and contemporary issues, particularly those tribes in Montana.

    + Experience with clinical research or similar research setting.

    + Experience with minimal statistical analysis.

    + Demonstrated experience using data to illustrate public health priorities.

    + Aptitude with medical screening equipment and electronic systems.

    + Competence in interfacing with state procurement and expenditure requirements.
